Formal recruitment is a structured, multi-day process that takes place about 1 month into the fall semester, and is the primary way to join a Panhellenic sorority at CSUF.

During formal recruitment, potential new members (PNMs) visit each chapter to meet current members and learn about their values, community service (philanthropy), and unique membership experiences. The process happens in 3 rounds, where PNMs are invited back to a smaller number of chapters each day based on mutual interest. The process is designed to help you learn about each chapter while also giving chapters the opportunity to get to know you.

Recruitment is a mutual selection process, meaning both you and the chapters are making decisions throughout the week. During this time, you’ll learn about each chapter’s values, philanthropy, member experience, and expectations. You’ll also gain insight into how the Panhellenic community and Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) are involved on campus.

At CSUF, recruitment is values-based. Chapters focus on getting to know who you are, your interests, character, and the connections you build, rather than your appearance or background. The goal is to find a chapter where you feel comfortable, supported, and aligned in values.
